Translate a Portuguese video into English subtitles
A Portuguese video with no English subtitles only reaches people who already speak Portuguese. This takes the file and returns an English subtitle track timed to the speech.
Translation happens after the timing is fixed, which is why the subtitles stay in sync.

What happens to your video
- Upload the file or paste a public link. Phone footage (HEVC/MOV) is read as it comes off the phone.
- The audio is transcribed first, with word-level timing, so every cue starts where speech starts.
- Each line is translated on its own. Timecodes are copied through and never rewritten.
- Download the SRT, or a copy of the video with the subtitles burned in at the original resolution.
Notes on the audio
- Brazilian and European Portuguese differ in rhythm and pronoun placement. Recognition is steadier on Brazilian accents.
- Nasal vowels (ão, õe) are commonly heard as plain vowels, which is where proper nouns go wrong.
- Portuguese words run longer than English ones, so a 42-character line holds very few of them. Long sentences get split across two cues.

Questions
Does it need subtitles to already exist?
No. It listens to the audio and builds the English lines from scratch, so a Portuguese video with no captions works the same way.
Will the English lines land in the right place?
Yes. The timing is derived from the Portuguese audio before any translation happens, so the cues do not shift afterwards.
Can I edit the result?
Yes. The SRT is plain text; open it in any editor and fix names or terms by hand.
